Education & Training
Originally from Arizona, Dr. Richert earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Arizona State University before continuing his dental education at the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, where he obtained both his doctor of dental medicine and master of public health degrees.
To further specialize in periodontics and dental implants, he completed a residency in periodontics and implantology at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, gaining extensive experience in implant surgery, soft tissue grafting, and gum disease therapy. He also earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology, deepening his knowledge of the science behind periodontal and implant treatment.
As a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Richert has achieved the highest level of certification in his field, demonstrating his expertise in periodontal care and implant dentistry.
Professional Experience
Dr. Richert’s career has given him a broad range of experience in both private practice and academic settings. He began working in Seattle, Washington, as part of a high-volume periodontal group, treating a wide range of cases. Later, he accepted a faculty position at the UNLV College of Dental Medicine, where he served as the primary periodontal and implant surgeon for both pre-doctoral and graduate programs.
While he enjoyed teaching, he always had a vision of settling in California. He moved to Lafayette, CA, where he spent several years in private practice before ultimately making his home in Santa Cruz, a place that blends his love for the ocean, the outdoors, and a strong sense of community.
Outside the Office
Dr. Richert lives in Pleasure Point with his partner, Emma, and their Jack Russell Terrier, Max. He enjoys surfing, snowboarding, and training in Muay Thai, balancing an active lifestyle with his professional career. He also has a passion for playing guitar and discovering new music, which has been a lifelong hobby.
